∞:\ DARK LAIR

: WELL, WELL. You've found a secret page. My secret page, in fact. Well done.

: Call me NIGHTDRIFT...the otherwise unspeakable sobriquet..

: What am I doing here? Well. Maybe you already know.

: But since you're here, I could share a bit of my collection of favorite things with you. If you're actually that curious, I mean.

NIGHTDRIFT'S COLLECTION

▼ BOOKS

Books that were largely influential to my own tastes and interests.

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse

The story of Siddhartha, seeking spiritual self-discovery and enlightenment. In the process of doing so, he experiences and learns many things. A deeply nourishing novel.

Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse

Steppenwolf strikes me as another iteration of Siddhartha, or vice versa. It is the tale of Harry Haller, an aging man who feels caught between existences of man and wolf, and his gradual understanding and acknowledgement of his more multifaced self.

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

Milo is a young boy who thinks life is a waste, until he receives a mysterious package containing a tollbooth which leads him to "the Lands Beyond". In the process, he finds himself whirled into a dangerous quest to return Rhyme and Reason to the divided Kingdom of Wisdom.

Holes by Louis Sachar

Stanley Yelnats is wrongfully convicted of a crime he did not commit. He is sent to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile corrections facility located in a dried-up desert lake with a past mysteriously connected to his so-called family curse.

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

Three resourceful but young orphans are viciously harassed by a wicked man who seeks to steal their fortune. As they try to escape his grasp over the course of thirteen books, their own lines between righteous nobility and dark wickedness are tested and blurred.

▼ MUSIC

Go-to musical artists and song series.

Noisia

Dutch electronic trio who made incredibly crisp, visceral, and moody music in the veins of drum & bass, neurofunk, grime, etc. Sadly split in 2020, but are now making pretty incredible solo/collab projects under SLEEPNET, THYS, and BODY OCEAN.

Ternion Sound

Another electronic music trio, focusing primarily on dubstep. A healthy mixture of classic dubstep with a few hints of American dubstep influences that aren't unpleasant.

Lana Del Rey

Her vocals...ok...

DDR Konamix PS1 Discography

When you've already checked off near half of the songs as "bangers"...well, you may as well put the whole thing.

Taiko no Tatsujin 2000 Series

Namco original songs known for their nightmarishly brutal drumcharts, the 2000 series have some of the most fun and occasionally nightmare inducing themes.

▼ MOVIES

Though I would hardly call myself a film buff, these ones remain some of my favorites to this day.

The Godfather

Yes, that classic crime film. Michael Corleone considers himself apart from the family "business", until his father is nearly killed...what follows is Michael's rapid transformation into a ruthless mafia boss.

The scene where Michael finds his father all alone in the hospital...makes me choke up every time.

Redline (2009)

SEVEN YEARS HAND DRAWN...

"Sweet" JP goes to race in the Redline, the greatest race in the galaxy. Unfortunately, the location of the Redline race is filled with militant zealot cyborgs.

Redline touts itself as a racing movie, but it's more like the world's most over-the-top romance flick, with cars, and a lot of bizarre and hillarious racer adverts. A reminder again, that this is an animated film...and they took the time to do all that...

Mulan (1998)

Yeah, that D*sney animated film. When the Huns attack China, Mulan's aging father is conscripted to fight in the war. Disguising herself as a man, Mulan secretly goes to fight in his place.

The scene where Mulan decides to leave for war in place of her father...makes me choke up every time. Such a stylishly animated movie.

The Prince of Egypt

A beautifully animated adapation of the story of Exodus.

They don't make animated musicals like they used to...

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Where are the other movies about reformed homicidal robot dads. Where are they.

The Big Lebowski

Well that's just like, your opinion, man.

One man's quest to go bowling and have a generally good time is ruined by a case of mistaken identity. Horrible shenanigans and psychedelic dream sequences ensue for the next hour and forty minutes.

▼ VIDEO GAMES

Not much of a gamer any more, but these would be my recommendations to anyone who asked me what to play.

Golden Sun

Long ago, alchemy threatened to destroy the world and was sealed to prevent its misuse. Isaac lives in the village which protects the sanctum hiding the secrets of alchemy, but When outsiders break the seal, kidnap Isaac's friends, and flee with the sanctum's elemental stars, Isaac is charged with a quest across the land of Weyard to reclaim the stars.

The Big Lebowski

Well that's just like, your opinion, man.
